CHARLESTON, WV – The West Virginia Ethics Commission entered into a Conciliation Agreement with Terrence Beam, a former Superintendent of Nicholas County Schools. The Conciliation Agreement states that Beam violated the Ethics Act by hiring his step-grandson for the position of custodian at Nicholas County Schools. Beam asserts that he was not fully aware that he had been convicted of a crime against children but acknowledged that there was sufficient evidence that he should have known he was ineligible to work for the Board of Education.
Beam has been ordered to receive a public reprimand, pay a fine in the amount of $1,500 to the West Virginia Ethics Commission, and undergo training on the West Virginia Governmental Ethics Act.
