Charleston, W.Va. – The West Virginia Ethics Commission entered into a Conciliation Agreement with Nathan Harmon, former Sheriff of Berkeley County. The Conciliation Agreement states that Harmon violated the Ethics Act by: (1) using public funds to design, produce, procure, and distribute challenge coins with his name on the coins; and (2) using his position as Sheriff to interfere in an investigation of a vehicle accident involving his daughter. Harmon has been ordered to pay a fine in the amount of $500 and to undergo training on the West Virginia Governmental Ethics Act. The Commission also ordered a public reprimand against Harmon.
