CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The
West Virginia Early Learning Academy at the Capitol (“WV Early Learning
Academy”) will conduct a grand opening of its facility at 10 a.m. on Wednesday,
January 11, 2017. First Lady Joanne Jaeger Tomblin is scheduled to participate
in this event.
The WV Early Learning Academy, administered by Discovery
Kingdom owner Tamra Protan, offers child care services and instructional
learning to children between the ages of six weeks and five years. The facility
was previously administered by Kanawha County Schools as the West Virginia
Public Employees Day Care Center until early December of 2016.
“After spending more than 15 years in child care
administration, I’m extremely pleased to introduce the children and their
parents to what we have to offer,” said Protan. “The goals of our program are
to provide a safe, healthy and educationally sound environment. We focus on the
importance of early learning to offer developmentally appropriate activities
for each age group that promote emotional, social, physical and intellectual
development.”
The West Virginia Department of Administration provides
and maintains the location for this facility. Public (i.e., state and local
government) employees have preference for enrollment purposes; however,
non-public employees may also be considered for participation. The WV Early
Learning Academy is accepting enrollment for new participants to the program
and encourages interested parents and their children to visit and learn more
about the WV Early Learning Academy.
For additional
information, please contact Tamra Protan at (304) 558-1416. The WV Early
Learning Academy is located at 2100 Washington Street, East, in Charleston,
near the State Capitol.
