CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Ethics
Commission issued a public reprimand and assessed a $500 fine as part of a
Conciliation (i.e. settlement) Agreement approved on October 3, 2019.
Mike
Adams, a board member of the Preston County Public Service District (PSD) No.
1, admitted in the Agreement that he violated the nepotism provisions of the
West Virginia Governmental Ethics Act by deliberating and voting at three
meetings on issues that benefited PSD employees, including his son.
Adams
was also ordered to undergo training on the Ethics Act as part of the
settlement.
