West Virginia State Agencies Participate in United Way’s 'Sock-tober' Campaign

11/15/2022

CHARLESTON, WV – Throughout the month of October, the United Way of Central West Virginia collected new socks for the less fortunate as part of its “Sock-tober” campaign.

The West Virginia Department of Administration and its 16 agencies participated by collecting both socks and monetary donations.

Today, Department of Administration Cabinet Secretary Mark D. Scott dropped off the donated items at the United Way’s office in Charleston. Department of Administration agencies collected 673 pairs of socks and $289 in monetary donations.
“These donations will go a long way toward helping our neighbors in need, and I am proud of our employees for doing their part,” Cabinet Secretary Scott said.

In the coming months, the Department of Administration will turn to helping the United Way collect coats, hats, scarves, and gloves during the winter months.

State employees will also have the option to participate in the United Way’s West Virginia State Employees Combined Campaign (WVSECC) through one-time monetary donations and/or pledging donations through payroll deduction.
