West Virginia Purchasing Division, State Agency for Surplus Property

The West Virginia State Agency for Surplus Property will be closed half a day on Wednesday, November 22, 2024, and a whole day on Thursday, November 28, 2024, and Friday, November 29, 2024, in observance of the Thanksgiving Day and Day after Thanksgiving holidays.  The Dunbar facility will reopen Monday, December 2, 2024.


WV Surplus is responsible for the ethical retirement and sale of state property. Items retired by the state are available for purchase by members of the general public as well as eligible organizations, state agencies, local municipalities, and more. As a self-funded entity, WV Surplus is here to serve West Virginia by offering good, usable property at a fair price.

Public Sales

WV Surplus provides sales to members of the general public through its warehouse located in Dunbar and through its online auction site, Gov Deals. Inventory often available at WV Surplus includes home/office furniture, kitchen appliances, and vehicles.
